Bitter-tasting herbs were once an important part of Native American, European and Chinese diets. Medicines made from bitter herbs, such as Swedish Bitters are traditionally used in herbal medicine to support digestion and assist mild digestive symptoms. Swedish Bitters is named after the 18th century Swedish health enthusiast Claus Samst and for its bitter taste. Swedish Bitters has many versatile uses and is one of the world's most popular traditionally used bitter tonics.

When Hilde Hemmes first came across the recipe for Swedish Bitters in an old German book, she was so impressed that she decided to introduce it to the Australian market place. More than three decades later, it has become one of Australia's leading herbal bitter tonics, sometimes referred to as 'mother of all herbal tonics'. Hilde has received many positive testimonials and believes it should be part of everybody's daily health routine.

Once you begin to use Swedish Bitters in your own household, you will soon discover just how versatile it is. It has been enjoyed by many cultures for hundreds of years and is "a must" for every medicine cabinet.
